Start your Morocco desert adventure from the vibrant city of Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the historic Tichka Pass. Explore traditional Berber villages and visit the ancient fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” before heading to the peaceful oasis town of Agdz.
Travel through the scenic Draa Valley, passing traditional villages and the town of Tamegroute, famous for its ancient library. Experience a memorable camel trek at sunset in the impressive Erg Chigaga dunes, and spend the night at a nomadic Berber camp.
On the final day, enjoy sunrise over the dunes, then visit the dry Lake Iriqui, Foum Zguid, and Taznakht, famous for its carpets, before arriving in the coastal city of Agadir.
🏞️ Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Agdz
Begin your Morocco desert adventure by driving from Marrakech, the vibrant red city, into the High Atlas Mountains. This scenic route showcases the foothills and traditional Berber villages.
Your first stop will be at the Tichka Pass, once a key route for trading caravans. Then continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village dating back to the 11th century and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Continue 35 km further to Ouarzazate, the largest city in southeastern Morocco, famously dubbed the “Hollywood of Africa.”
From there, journey through the mountains to the oasis town of Agdz, where you will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
🏜️ Day 2: Agdz – Zagora – Tamegroute – Mhamid – Chigaga Dunes
Travel through the extensive Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest valley, passing several traditional villages en route to Zagora.
Follow the Draa River to the town of Tamegroute, home to one of the oldest libraries in the region.
Proceed to the village of Mhamid before heading directly to the impressive Erg Chigaga dunes.
Experience a breathtaking camel trek at sunset, leading you to a nomadic camp where you’ll enjoy a night under the stars with traditional Berber music.
🌅 Day 3: Erg Chigaga – Dry Lake Iriqui – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Taliouine – Agadir
Wake early to witness and photograph the stunning sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast.
Drive in a 4×4 vehicle across the dry Lake Iriqui to the Berber town of Foum Zguid, where you can enjoy a short walk.
Continue through Taznakht, famous for its vibrant Berber carpets, then stop in Taliouine for lunch.
Afterward, drive for a few more hours to reach the coastal city of Agadir by late afternoon.
