Overview
Itinerary
Begin your Morocco desert adventure by driving from Marrakech, the vibrant red city, into the High
Atlas Mountains. This scenic route showcases the foothills and traditional Berber villages. Your first
stop will be at the Tichka Pass, formerly a route for trading caravans, then continue to Ait Ben
Haddou, a fortified village dating back to the 11th century and recognized as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. Continuing 35 km further, you will reach Ouarzazate, the largest city in southeastern
Morocco, famously dubbed the "Hollywood of Africa." Continue through the mountains to the oasis
of Agdz, where you will spend the night in a hotel.
On the second day, journey through the extensive Draa Valley, Morocco's longest valley, passing
several villages to reach Zagora. Follow the Draa River to the town of Tamegroute, home to one of
the most ancient libraries. Proceed to the village of Mhamid before heading straight to the Erg
Chigaga dunes. Experience a breathtaking camel trek at sunset, leading you to a nomadic camp
where you will spend the night enjoying music under the stars.
Wake early to see and photograph the sunrise, then have breakfast. Drive in a 4x4 via the dry Lake
Iriqui to Foum Zguid, where you can enjoy a short walk. Continue through Taznakht and stop in
Taliouine for lunch. Afterward, drive for a few more hours to reach Agadir by late afternoon. If you
